Our projects
From driving research and monitoring of sensitive species and environments to supporting sustainable fisheries, our projects generate knowledge that informs conservation and management and supports communities in understanding, valuing and coming to realise the benefits of environmental conservation. Together, these efforts help ensure the long-term health of the environment and the communities that depend on it.

This project aims to directly support long-term science-driven marine spatial planning and species conservation in the Turks and Caicos Islands through the provision of research infrastructure, training and the promotion of broad collaboration. The project installed an acoustic receiver array, initiated the long-term study of over 30 key marine animals and formally established the TCAT Network as a grassroots initiative to ensure the sustainability of project outcomes.
DPLPS006: Sustainable fly-fishing: Building expertise, conservation skills and eco-entrepreneurship
There is more to come, but here is a brief outline of the project, being led by partners the Turks & Caicos Fly-Fishing Association (TCFFA):
Fisheries are at the heart of the Turks and Caicos Islands, historically, culturally and economically. As the socio-cultural landscape of the islands has transitioned towards a tourism-driven economy, sport fishing provides an opportunity for the development of sustainable livelihoods for local communities while promoting conservation goals and eco-entrepreneurship.

Community & Initiatives
There is more to come, but here is a brief outline of the project:
Roots2Reef aims to meaningfully connect with local communities and support the development of conservation champions and future environmental practitioners. We aim to achieve this by providing internship and studentship opportunities to locals, and through effective outreach and education. Get in touch if you are interested in finding out more about an internship opportunity.
